YunMake launches UMA mini e-bike with Xiaomi affiliate’s support

May 5, 2016

Tweet on Twitter Chinese e-bike manufacturer YunMake unveiled its new smart e-bike, UMA mini, in Beijing on Wednesday. It features a folding function that vastly reduces the size of the bike for storage or carrying. YunMake launched its first e-bike, YunBike C1, in October 2015. On Thursday, the company announced it will rebrand YunBike with the product series name UMA (Urban Mobile Actor). “With the change in our product name, YunMake is aiming to make profits overseas. Our e-bikes have been sold in a dozen countries including the UK, France and Spain,” said Qiu Yiwu, the founder and CEO of YunMake, in a press release. A folded UMA mini. It can serve as a normal bike, and its battery cells ensure a 20km/h riding speed. It can be fully charged in two hours with a mileage of 25-35km per charge. Its battery can also be used as a power source with a USB port. ZMI provided technical support in the design of the battery. ZMI is Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi’s affiliate and a member of Xiaomi’s business ecosystem, MIJIA. ZMI makes power banks, routers and phone chargers for Xiaomi. YunMake was founded in the Southern Chinese city of Hangzhou in 2013. Its Series A investors include Shunwei Capital, which is backed by Xiaomi CEO Leijun, Qualcomm and Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn. YunMake says they will launch three new flagship products for mass production in 2016. The company will seek crowdfunding for the UMA mini in June, and its price will be announced at that time. The UMA mini will go on sale in August. (Top photo from
