about 7 hours ago Getting Connected via Wi-Fi Illustration / Shutterstock Ideabox , a collaborative project between Indosat Ooredoo and Mountain SEA Ventures, is going to hold Demo Day for startups that passed the previous stage. We attempted to have a talk with WiFiMU’s CEO Silvia Liem about her experience in joining the second batch of Ideabox incubator and WiFiMU’s plans for the future. We reported about WiFiMU as a wireless network and social media-based marketing tool around six months ago. We asked her about the initial ideas of WiFiMU. Establishment’s Background Liem stated, “The idea (of WiFiMU) derived from the difficulties we faced when trying to find a new marketing channel that provides real conversion. We saw the developement of Indonesians’ behavior in getting engaged with Wi-Fi and social media. [..] So why don’t we combine Wi-Fi and social media to leverage our business?” She also explained that the main objective of WiFiMU is to assist and strengthen local brands and facilitate them to promote their products via Wi-Fi. The target market is all venues, especially those that focus on hospitality industry, event, F&B, and public space. The experience of joining Ideabox After joining Ideabox, Liem admitted that she gained tons of new insights, such as how to pitch effectively, the importance of UI and UX based on user’s point of view, and knowing product’s advantages and disadvantages. She also met new friends and grabbed a lot of knowledge from experienced mentors. Plans for the future As a B2B product, WiFiMU looks to partner with those who can utilize its concept as their marketing and data analysis tool, even in handling big data. From technical point of view, WiFiMU is on the process of developing firmware that is compatible with various wireless modems. “We have released two new firmwares, which are TP-LINK WR740N and Ubiquiti Nano Station Loco M2, and we’ll launch firmwares for other access points later on,” Liem leaked. With its current available technologies, Liem expected that WiFiMU can be one of products that facilitate the establishment of smart cities all over Indonesia. Share:
