The demand for remote exercising and coaching has increased with COVID-19 restrictions closing gyms and personal training programs. Interest in remote exercise training services has grown, and digital healthcare startups are getting investments and opportunities to expand. Korean startup Alyce Healthcare , which has developed an Artificial Intelligence-based fitness solution or personal training coach called Weelo, has entered into a strategic business agreement including investment with UX research company Companoid Labs. UX research and design to enhance virtual fitness trainer ‘Weelo’ Companoid Labs, a research-focused company builder that designs innovative user experiences, has signed in an investment (amount undisclosed) and strategic business agreement with Alyce Healthcare. The strategic MoU is for the CIC (Companion in Company) group, a startup building system of Companoid Labs. It is a system that works together with entrepreneurs and members who want to make startups based on innovative UX design and grow into next-generation companies. Companoid Labs will promote UX research and design for the ‘Weelo’ service together with Alyce Healthcare through the CIC Group and secure related UX patents. Alyce Healthcare specializes in providing AI rehabilitation solutions. It operates as a virtual coach that performs rehab exercises on any screen, including mobile devices, TVs, and computers. Alyce’s ‘Weelo’ is an AI-personal trainer service that helps users correct their exercise posture using AI-based motion tracking technology in real-time. ‘Weelo’ recommends exercises optimized for individual users through a simple questionnaire and provides coaching interaction in real-time during exercise using AI learned from 3 million images. Dia Kang, CEO and founder of Alyce Healthcare said, “Through the CIC group work with Companoid Labs, we will not only create service retention and sustainable services but will also develop technology that can provide unrivalled UX to users of Weelo.
