Wellington developer merges with wireless business

Wellington developer merges with wireless business Software developer Liverton has merged with connectivity business IDataRoam and a sister company Vistagate International Randal Jackson 06 June, 2013 22:00 - Software developer Liverton has merged with wireless connectivity business IDataRoam and a sister company, Vistagate International. The new group will be known as Liverton Technology Group. “This deal is all about giving the business a platform for growth,” says Justin De Lille, from IDataRoam, who has been appointed group chief executive. “Liverton has invested heavily in its software development team, and is utilising group resources and connections to expand its product range into both local and international markets.” IDataRoam had been partially funded by Warehouse founder Stephen Tindall’s KIWI fund. Tindall is a shareholder in the new merged company. Liverton is perhaps best known for its SEEMail security product, used by government agencies for secure email. Group CTO, Richard Bourne, says the new group has invested heavily in new product development over the past few months. It has released rules-based software, MailAdvisor, that prevents users from inadvertently sending emails and/or attachments to the wrong recipient. MailAdvisor is a companion application to Microsoft Outlook. It interrogates each message before it is sent and matches it against SEEMail (where the agency has that), a list of trusted recipients or identifies a public sending. A configurable confirmation message asks the sender if he or she wants to send the message to the intended recipient, before it is dispatched. “It provides more visibility at the front end,” Bourne says. MailAdvisor is also designed for corporate users. Bourne says Liverton has presented the product to eight government departments so far and has verbal commitments from three to buy. “Our ultimate aim is to have it downloadable online,” he says. “We’ve already started looking to Australia as a potential market.” Join the Computerworld New Zealand newsletter!
