Panel cannot believe their ears and eyes when The Masked Singer is unveiled: ‘This is very intense’ | Show Home » Entertainment » Panel cannot believe their ears and eyes when The Masked Singer is unveiled: ‘This is very intense’ | Show byarchywordys No Comments Cornald Maas, Beau van Erven Dorens and Frits Sissing: all names that were linked to the Puffer Fish in the second episode of The Masked Singer on Friday evening. But the panel turned out to be completely wrong, as it became clear during the unveiling. “I still can’t believe it,” Buddy Vedder responded in dismay. Please note: this article contains spoilers. With no fewer than twenty costumes, Carlo Boszhard, Buddy Vedder, Loretta Schrijver, Gerard Joling and Monica Geuze have to rack their brains this season. On Friday evening it was the turn of the Puffer Fish. And he immediately managed to mislead the panel with his hints. As always, mysterious clues were given before the performance. The ‘cheerful balloon fish’, as the celebrity described himself, was also known as someone who put on his spines ‘every now and then’. “That’s part of my profession,” he said. In addition, he was no stranger to full houses and he stated that he wanted to get ‘the whole room’ involved. The latter turned out to be true. The Puffer sang the Italian resistance song Bella Ciao and turned it into a real party. The panel thoroughly enjoyed it, but at the same time it turned out to be a difficult task to link the hints to the right famous Dutch person. All kinds of names were thrown around: Soy Kroon, Cornald Maas, Renze Klamer, Özcan Akyol and Beau van Erven Dorens. Boszhard, who called it a ‘fantastic performance’, was convinced that the person in the suit was someone who could ‘sing much better’ than could now be heard. And Gerard Joling wouldn’t be surprised if there was a singer hidden in the costume. “I am incredibly confused. This man… there’s a lot more to this.” Vedder just hit on the spiky hint. “So I was thinking a bit about Özcan Akyol or Roelof Hemmen.” Text continues below the photo. The Pufferfish in The Masked Singer. © RTL Disclosure Despite the number of names mentioned, the panel was completely wrong. The Pufferfish made it even more exciting by taking extra time to take off the head of the suit. But once that happened and he turned around, the panel screamed. None other than theater producer and presenter Albert Verlinde turned out to be hidden behind the costume. “Oh guys, it’s so much fun to do this. Sweltering hot, but you lose weight nicely,” he chuckled. “I felt like a blowfish in the water.” Boszhard, Geuze, Vedder, Schrijver and Joling had to recover from the revelation. “This is very intense. I can’t get over this anymore,” Boszhard said. “I still can’t believe it,” Vedder added to his colleague. In retrospect, the hints weren’t that difficult after all, especially Verlinde herself thought. For example, a seat was visible and that referred to the time when Verlinde was active as a councilor for the VVD in the municipality of Vught. And the cross that was visible? That had everything to do with the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, which will come to the theater in 2024. Not to mention the jellyfish that came into view. “That’s because of that nickname. Kwalbert Verlinde. I’m still proud of it.” The panel had no choice but to conclude that it was a bit embarrassing that they were unable to guess that it was Verlinde. “Yes, it is embarrassing,” Boszhard concluded.
