December 28, 2017 Photos on social media site Twitter show the Falcon Heavy going vertical at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39A. The rocket is now in position to blast off sometime in January. While an exact date has not been confirmed, this is the first time the Falcon Heavy has stood upright at Launch Complex 39A, even though the original launch was scheduled for November. The launch will serve as a demo flight to orbit before SpaceX , the rocket company Musk owns, starts launching the vehicle on a regular basis for customers like it does for its single-booster Falcon 9 rocket — one that blasts off about three times a month from Florida’s Space Coast.
