The Joslin Vision NetworkTM (JVN) is a technology and clinical service designed to prevent blindness and vision loss for people with diabetes. Using Joslin's imaging system, patients can be evaluated for diabetic eye disease by Joslin clinicians, conveniently, pain-free and without the risks or recovery time of traditional pupil dilation. This means that an eye health exam, which may have been previously difficult for or even unavailable to many, is now fast, simple and readily available. Using the JVN in a primary care environment increases diabetic retinopathy surveillance and efficient use of specialty care. This translates to better care and health outcomes for patients and greater clinical excellence, cost-effectiveness and practice efficiency for physicians.
