7 of the most hated brands in America, including the BIGGEST

Jun 4, 2023

Twitter, Meta (Facebook) and TikTok are the world’s three biggest social media giants. They are also the three brands with the worst reputation in the US, according to the recently released Axios Harris Poll 100 2023 ranking. Millions of monthly active users across the country couldn’t leave these three social networks off the list, which Axios and The Harris Poll compiled by asking more than 16,000 Americans to rate the 100 companies they considered “most visible” in nine reputation categories. I Meta i Twitter achieved poor results in the “culture” and “ethics” categories. Both companies recently faced public backlash after firing thousands of workers via email — just one in a series of escalating dramas at Twitter, which Fidelity estimates is now worth just a third of the $44 billion Elon Musk paid for it in October in 2022 Meta, Facebook and Instagram (AP Photo/Godofredo A. Vásquez, File) TikTok scored poorly on “citizenship” and “character,” amid growing concerns among U.S. lawmakers about the Chinese federal government’s potential influence over the platform. They are not the only brands with low reputation scores. Here are the seven brands with the worst reputations in America, according to the survey: The Trump Organization TikTok Americans have declared the “Trump Organization” the company with the worst public perception in the country. It is the only company on the list with a “very poor” overall score, the lowest possible level. Donald Tramp (AP Photo/John Raoux, File) The “Trump Organization” received a particularly low rating in the categories “character”, “trust” and “ethics”. The rankings were released just days before former President Donald Trump, who ran the group for decades, was indicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX has the second-worst reputation among Americans, following its collapse in November 2022. The saga deepened after CNBC reported that former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried traded funds from borrowers’ accounts without permission, resulting in a group with a billion dollar lawsuit. Fox Corporation made the list before settling a defamation lawsuit against Dominion Voting Systems for $785 million last month. A media company is being sued for publishing a false claim that voting machines rigged the 2020 election. British Petroleum (BP) and Bitcoin just missed the top seven spots, but still earned “bad” ratings. BP’s oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico earned it the title of “America’s Worst Company” in 2011. Twelve years later, the British oil and gas giant appears to have a long way to go to regain public trust, scoring particularly low in the categories of “citizenship” and “ethics”. Fashion companies are also on the list Other notable companies on the list include fashion houses Balenciaga and Shein, which ranked 10th and 16th respectively. Some Twitter users are still calling for a boycott of Balenciaga months after the November 2022 campaign featured children holding teddy bears in chains. The Spanish luxury fashion house later apologized in a statement on Instagram, saying it was sorry for the “unpleasant occurrences in their campaign”. Balenciaga (Unsplash) This year, Balenciaga and FTX appear on this list for the first time. The Trump Organization, TikTok and Spirit Airlines kept their places from last year’s ranking list. Meta and Twitter became somewhat more respectable, by one place each, and Fox Corporation rose from fifth worst to third place. Source: Investitor.me
