UK: UNIT-e acquires student engagement tool Cedar 30 January 2023 Ed Tech and Educational Services UNIT-e, a provider of management information systems (MIS) for further education, higher education and adult and community education has acquired the assets of Cedar, a student engagement tool. Cedar, developed in 2014 by Preston-based Cardinal Newman College, is used to build an accurate student record across the institution. Its Student Mark Book enables teachers to create and mark assignments for students, including BTEC units, as well as providing learner progress monitoring and student welfare functions. The company has a customer base of 19 sixth form colleges. Simon Jarvis, managing director at UNIT-e, said: “We are committed to ensuring the highest quality customer experience for existing Cedar users and the planned transfer over to UNIT-e will be with minimum disruption and no change to their current terms. The acquisition will open an exciting new chapter for our users. UNIT-e customers have been asking for a single integrated solution with the student engagement functionality which Cedar offers.
