Businesses large and small from across the North West have announced a series of top appointments and promotions since our last round up. Below, BusinessLive profiles the latest top hires from all over the region. Manchester Airport Manchester Airport's Terminal 2 Chris Woodroofe, who was previously chief operating officer at Gatwick from 2016 to 2020, joins from Chevron Traffic Management. Mr Woodroofe will start in his new role on June 15 and will be supported by Ian Costigan who will continue to oversee the airport’s operational functions, having been interim managing director since April. Mr Costigan took on that role after Karen Smart stood down as managing director in the wake of intense criticism over delays at the airport. A CGI of how the Co-op Live arena is expected to look The £365m Co-op Live arena, which is being built by Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, has made nine new hires. They have joined from the likes of Manchester United, AO Arena and Liverpool John Lennon Airport as well as Ticketmaster, Electricity North West and Arsenal. Co-op Live will have a capacity of 23,500 and is expected to open in December 2023. The project is being led by Oak View Group and Manchester City's owner while pop star Harry Styles is also an investor. Manchester-headquartered Landwood Group has appointed Steven McKay to lead its project and building consultancy service. Mr McKay has been a chartered surveyor since 2014 and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. He has joined from AA Projects in Leeds where he predominantly focused on project-led management and contract administration work for the likes of academy trusts and public works. He has also held previous roles at Naismiths and Cushman & Wakefield. Mr McKay said: "I have already thoroughly enjoyed my first few weeks within the Landwood business. "I will be supporting the recovery and valuation and the commercial asset management teams, as well as working on repositions, facility mergers, dilapidations and pre-acquisition surveys - but really, I will be across a whole range of offerings and roles within the group." SLG Manchester-based integrated communications agency SLG has made three appointments. New account executive Niki Lui previously worked for an online media company in Hong Kong working on social media and advertising for lifestyle and beauty brands. Creative designer Michael Long comes to SLG from McCann Health where he created presentations for some of largest pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Novartis. Digital services director Tino Triste has more than 17 years of experience in channel planning, advertising and marketing. Managing director Ryan Jones said: "We are delighted to welcome Michael, Niki and Tino to the SLG family and we have already seen the value of their enthusiasm, talent and experience. "This is an exciting new era for SLG and I’m very confident that all of our new team members will be an integral part of our continued success." Bridge Insurance Brokers Bridge Insurance Brokers has expanded its Manchester credit division with a senior appointment. Andrew Berry has been appointed as a credit insurance specialist in the company's Manchester office. He joins from Euler Hermes Direct. Bridge Insurance Brokers was set up in Manchester over 50 years ago and operates out of its head office on Charlotte Street. The company now employs over 100 people. In its London office, the firm has hired Nikki Salmon and Richard Miller as trade credit and surety client director and trade credit and surety director respectively. KKA Liverpool-based architecture firm KKA has made three new promotions. Chloe Bliss Buckley, who is part of KKA’s interiors team KKAI, has been promoted to senior interior designer after being with the company for over four years. On the architecture team, Matt Kerrod and Jamie McAllister have both been promoted to associates. Director Chris Long said: "As a Liverpool-based firm, KKA continues to support Liverpool’s next wave of graduates as they look to find a way into the industry, without having to leave the North West. "Chloe, Matt and Jamie have all been with KKA for a number of years now, and it is great to see their own growth and progression mirroring that of the overall firms." Beyond Law Group Matt Fleetwood and Piers Dryden of Beyond Law Group Manchester-based Beyond Law Group’s specialist corporate and commercial practice, Beyond Corporate, has appointed Piers Dryden to its corporate team. Mr Dryden brings more than 20 years’ experience to Beyond Corporate, having worked at firms including Slaughter & May, Debevoise & Plimpton and Ogier. Prior to joining, he was partner and head of the technology sector at Brabners. He said: "It’s a privilege to join the talented team at Beyond Corporate. The practice has such a strong record of growth, innovation and high-quality client service and I look forward to further supporting and developing the team in my new role." Down at the Social Manchester-based Down at the Social has hired three new team members. Lucy Webber has joined the social and content team as social media executive along with Kate McDonnell, who is social media apprentice while also training at the Juice Academy. Orla Hickey has joined DATS from her role as group communications manager at Maybourne Hotel Group where she handled PR for luxury hotels including Claridge’s in London, North America and the South of France. She said: "After relocating to Manchester following 13 years in London I am so excited to join the DATS team. "They have built such a wide and inspiring portfolio of clients and I am looking forward to hitting the ground running. As soon as I met Daisy and the team it felt like a good fit and I hope to bring a creative and enthusiastic approach to DATS." Ultimate Products Simon Hathway of Ultimate Products Greater Manchester-based Ultimate Products has announced the appointment of Simon Hathway as an external adviser to its European business with immediate effect. His previous executive roles have included commercial director for Action (the Netherlands-based international discount store chain), head of multichannel for Wilko, business solutions director for A.S. Watson Group in Asia, and a variety of senior roles for Sainsbury’s. Recent advisory roles have included proposition development with a leading French hypermarket chain, strategy and sourcing development for a pan-European discounter, and category management planning for a German retailer. He said: "I see enormous growth potential for Ultimate Products’ outstanding portfolio of homeware brands with European retailers, and supermarkets in particular. "Ultimate Products is a business that I have worked with as a customer and admired for many years, and I look forward very much to supporting the team in achieving their ambitious international growth plans." ATG Access Lucy Ketley of ATG Access ATG Access, a Haydock-headquartered developer of vehicle barriers, road blockers and bollards has promoted its former head of marketing to marketing and sales director. Lucy Ketley has an MBA in Business, is a graduate of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme and joined the business in 2011. She said: "ATG Access has been a fantastic place to work for the last 11 years. I am very grateful to have experienced strong internal support that has led me to my newest role. "I very much look forward to continuing the growth of the business across the UK and internationally alongside our fantastic ATG team." StoreAway Rebecca Hampshire of StoreAway with managing director Christian Yates and regional launch manager at Engage Management Services, Wassim Benazayez Self-storage operator StoreAway has appointed a general manager for its flagship Liverpool site. Rebecca Hampshire joins the emerging business, based in the heart of Liverpool ONE on School Lane, with more than a decade of experience in customer-facing roles and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the 385-locker store, which opened its doors just eight weeks ago. Led by self-storage management and property experts Richard Lanyon and Christian Yates, StoreAway aims to "eradicate empty retail and leisure space in urban areas and city centres by offering flexible storage solutions in busy spots across the country". Rebecca Hampshire said: "Over the past five years, the storage industry has grown rapidly and I’m really excited to join StoreAway having never heard of a facility like this being available in locations like ours before. "I was intrigued by the concept and because it is so new, it has allowed us to rewrite the rule book because there is no predecessor to follow. I can’t wait to begin helping our city centre customers move in and to see what the future holds for StoreAway." Autocab Manchester-based Autocab has appointed Jamie Lyons as its chief commercial officer. Mr Lyons brings more than 17 years of experience to his Autocab role, including go-to-market optimisation, team building, coaching and development, as well as overall business transformation. He said: "I am delighted to join the executive team at Autocab as we enter the next phase of growth, following the acquisition by Uber. "I am looking forward to working with the Autocab team, our partners and our customers to grow Autocab’s commercial business." RECOM Solutions Sarah Leadbetter of RECOM Solutions Manchester-based construction project management consultancy RECOM Solutions has welcomed back Sarah Leadbetter as head of its healthcare projects team. She first joined RECOM in 2017 as an associate director from Deloitte Real Estate, where she was an associate director managing major capital projects. In 2019 she moved to Turner + Townsend as a senior project manager, before being promoted to associate director. She has now re-joined fast-expanding RECOM to lead its healthcare offering and support clients across the UK. She said: "RECOM’s culture and alignment with my own aspirations, together with the opportunity to make a difference in such an important sector, made the decision to return to the business an easy one." SkyParlour Matt Pears of SkyParlour Manchester-based PR agency SkyParlour has appointed Matt Pears to its board as an executive director and head of SkyParlour Scale. He has more than 10 years’ leadership experience in global marketing and communications with specialities in corporate and B2B PR, including crisis and reputation management. Mr Pears said: "Fintech has exploded in recent years; technologies that were once viewed as merely full of potential have taken centre stage and become integral across world markets, verticals and demographics. "The global financial services market is expected to reach $26.5tn by the end of 2022, which will make this year the most successful to date. "We are now tackling wholesale issues from financial inclusion and harnessing game-changing technology like blockchain, to revolutionising consumer experiences through the mainstream adoption of wearables. "With this growth however, targeted and strategic communications have never been more important as we look to educate, innovate and drive change." GC Angels Sam Patchitt of GC angels Sam Patchitt, business consultant and founder of start-ups Yellow Label and Finstant, has taken on a new role as investment and portfolio manager at GC Angels. He said: "It’s been great getting settled in to the role and getting to know Jess, Sarah and the wider team at the Growth Company. "I’m very excited about the Manchester tech scene at the moment, which is growing quickly and is really diverse. "While our tech scene may be relatively young, this is a huge benefit as we don’t seem to have any boundaries regarding the types of businesses that are springing up. "As a result, there’s a heap of 'fringe tech' out there, from gaming tech to health tech, and I’m excited to begin building relationships with these businesses and help them grow." Robert Scott Darren Williamson of Robert Scott Oldham-based cleaning product manufacturer and distributor Robert Scott has appointed Darren Williamson as its new head of procurement. He joins the business from safety supplier Arco, where he was product and procurement manager for its cleaning and hygiene and workplace safety categories. Mr Williamson said: "I’ve always admired Robert Scott – it’s a great family business that I wanted to be part of. "With almost a decade of experience in cleaning and hygiene procurement, my plan is to continue the great work the team is doing and build on its extensive range of products, as well as looking to add new, innovative products with a particular focus on sustainability and environmental credentials. I’m very much looking forward to helping to take the business forward." Marktlink Marktlink managing partner Jonathon Parkinson with Alex Wilson and Hari Griffith (Image: Bernadette Delaney Photography) Marktlink, an independent international mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory firm, has announced the appointment of two new consultants to its Manchester office. The UK team has been bolstered by the recent additions of Alex Wilson, who has joined from Deloitte, where he worked as part of the tax and legal team in Leeds, and Hari Griffith, who has joined from OneToOne Corporate Finance in Chester. Managing partner Jonathon Parkinson said: "We are continuing to build our UK team to support our existing and new clients. "Both Alex and Hari have proven themselves to be high-calibre candidates with fantastic financial and professional services expertise gained from experience at both Big 4 and independent firms.
