Email | Twitter | Google+ Boston-based e-commerce clothing startup Tucker Blair is the latest Internet-based company to experiment with pop-up stores, and is opening a temporary retail store at 111 Charles St. this week. The pop-up store on Charles Street is the latest development in the startup's effort to have a physical retail presence to supplement it's e-commerce website. Tucker Blair sells handmade needlepoint belts, wallets, coasters, flasks, bracelets and other accessories and its pop-up store will also feature products from New York-based clothing company Jack Robie . Tucker Blair is among several startups that have started off selling products online and then later found that a physical, brick-and-mortar presence was a good supplement to allow customers to get a better feel for the products they are selling. Those startups also include Boston-based e-commerce menswear startup Ministry of Supply, product-launch website The Grommet , and e-commerce fine jewelry startup Gemvara. Gemvara, however, decided to not open a permanent retail store after evaluating customer traffic at the temporary pop-up store the company opened last winter. Tucker Blair was founded in 2008 and was bought in August 2013 by Matthew Tara , former vice president for venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners, which has an office in Cambridge. The company describes itself as catering to the "modern preppy" consumer. The company raised a seed round of $610,000 last fall, led by General Catalyst, to support growth, re-branding and new hires, according to the company. Related links:
