TrichAware
About TrichAware
TrichAware is a wearable device that is designed to help the estimated 9-12 million Americans suffering from Trichotillomania, a disorder characterized by a subconscious desire to pull out hair (most commonly head, eyebrows, and eyelashes). TrichAware is meant to help alert "Trichsters" (those suffering from Trichotillomania) when they are pulling and provide encouragement so that they can stop this habit/disorder. The device helps a Trichster become aware of when he/she is pulling in an effort to help control the action. Accompanying the wearable is a mobile application that tracks the pulling behavior providing information to help him/her understand when, how often, and what events trigger the behavior. The app also would provide access to a social community of other Trichsters - offering encouragement, support and hope.
