0 The Gold Coast Transit District’s new GO Now on-demand service offers flexibility and convenience for commuters, providing transportation for errands, shopping, work and personal activities in the South Oxnard neighbourhood. Credit: Gold Coast Transit District The Gold Coast Transit District (GCTD) has announced the launch of the GO Now on-demand, app-based transit service in the South Oxnard neighbourhood in California. The service aims to provide a convenient transportation option for residents, allowing them to run errands within their neighbourhood and connect to the larger transit network. Passengers can book immediate transportation through the TransLoc mobile app, ensuring minimal wait times and convenient travel in South Oxnard. The GO Now service caters to unplanned transportation needs, offering opportunities for commuters to use public transportation for local shopping, work and other destinations within the service zone. The GO Now service zone includes several areas in South Oxnard, encompassing various popular destinations. Funding for the service has been secured through partnerships with the Ventura County Clean Energy Alliance and the Ventura County Transportation Commission, enabling GCTD to operate the service for up to one year. During this period, the operator will assess the efficiency of the on-demand service and gather community feedback to determine its future. To utilise the on-demand service, passengers can request transportation using the TransLoc app, with an estimated arrival time provided within 30 minutes. The service operates from Monday to Friday, between 07:00 and 19:00, and the one-way fare is $2.00. Passengers can track their ride, confirm pick-up and drop-off locations, as well as request assistance with wheelchair access or bicycle storage if needed. The service is available to individuals aged 14 and above, utilising GO NOW and GO ACCESS vehicles. “We are excited to welcome passengers on-board GO Now and look forward to providing a seamless and efficient on-demand connection. This innovative neighbourhood-focused service will be available for a trial period of one year and will enable us to try new ways to help people get around this busy neighbourhood and business corridor,” said Vanessa Rauschenberger, General Manager of GCTD. “We are excited to bring a new type of public transit offering to South Oxnard. The GO Now service is designed to help address unplanned, spontaneous transportation needs. Use the service to go to the library, and when you are ready, you can request a trip, knowing that it will arrive soon,” said Margaret Schoep, Paratransit & Special Projects Manager at GCTD .
