    Senhance Surgical System

The Senhance® Surgical System is the first of its kind and the only digital laparoscopic platform that leverages augmented intelligence to provide unmatched performance and improved patient outcomes through machine learning. The Senhance Surgical System is designed to support hospitals and help surgeons thrive in today’s healthcare landscape. This digital laparoscopic platform removes the economic limitations of current robotic systems with standard reusable instruments and an open-platform architecture strategy that enables hospitals to leverage existing technology investments. That keeps time and cost-per-procedure comparable to traditional laparoscopy, so that the benefits of robotics can reach more patients, in more care settings, for a greater variety of procedures.

LTTS, NVIDIA partner for AI-based architectures for medical devices

Nov 21, 2023

The collaboration will leverage the NVIDIA Holoscan and IGX Orin platforms, which feature ultra-low latency data transfer, superior image processing, and scalability, to enhance image processing, visualisation and AI-based decision-making LTTS, NVIDIA partner for AI architecture for medical devices. (Credit: Amir Shtanger/Wikipedia) US-based technology firm NVIDIA and Indian engineering services company L&T Technology Services (LTTS) have partnered to develop software-defined architectures for medical devices. An architecture is a scalable platform that supports various applications and provides a real-time decision-making tool for the medical fraternity. It will be developed as an advanced solution to address the industry-wide challenges of availability, cost, and dependencies associated with custom and unique hardware components. The collaboration will leverage the NVIDIA Holoscan and IGX Orin platforms, which feature ultra-low latency data transfer, superior image processing, and scalability. It will enable enhanced visualisation for image processing and AI-based decision-making support, such as for polyp detection and classification. NVIDIA enterprise business senior vice president Shanker Trivedi said: “The combination of LTTS’ expertise in medical-device development and NVIDIA’s full-stack edge AI computing platform delivers unprecedented value to the medical technology industry by accelerating the development of AI-enabled, software-defined medical devices. “This collaboration provides a complete solution for customers looking to transition to a software-defined business model via real-time AI applications.” The architecture will feature an image processing pipeline for noise reduction, edge and contrast enhancement, texture and colour enhancement, and speckle correction. It also includes AI/ML models for the detection, identification, and classification of polyps – abnormal growths often found during colonoscopies. The solution comes with a user-friendly interface and facilitates an effortless integration of the image processing pipeline for visualisation. The architecture is expected to provide low-latency data transfer, superior image processing without performance bottlenecks, and scalability. L&T Technology Services CEO and managing director Amit Chadha said: “Our collaboration with NVIDIA helps us push the boundaries of what’s possible in medical imaging. “The combination of the NVIDIA Holoscan software platform for edge AI inference and the NVIDIA IGX Orin hardware platform accelerates the development of AI-powered medical imaging solutions by enhancing image quality and real-time clinical decision-making support, making clinicians more efficient and improving patient outcomes.” Earlier this year, NVIDIA teamed up with Asensus Surgical to advance the development of Asensus’ Intelligent Surgical Unit (ISU) offering.
