Due to fears of the spread of the coronavirus, cyclists were also banned from eating outside the team hotels. “To all team members: limit interactions outside the race bubble. No outside food. Respect hotel distancing. Stay away from spectators – distancing, no selfies, no autographs,” wrote the organizers in the instructions to the teams, from which the Reuters agency quotes. As of Friday, France registered 3,204 coronavirus cases in the country. The organizers of the world’s most famous race also reacted to the events of the recent Giro d’Italia, from which several cyclists had to withdraw due to the covid-19 infection, including the leader Remco Evenepoel from Belgium and his teammates Jan Hirt and Josef Černý.
