Sportshopsdirect en Total Sports Trading fuseren Sportshopsdirect en Total Sports Trading fuseren SportShopsDirect en Total Sports Trading, twee Nederlandse online spelers op het gebied van onder meer tennis, voetbal, hockey, hardlopen, handbal en volleybal, gaan samen verder onder de naam Passa Sports. Door de combinatie ontstaat een bedrijf met ruim 175 medewerkers en zeventien gespecialiseerde online shops waaronder TennisDirect.nl, VoetbalDirect.nl, HockeyDirect.nl en Sportshop.com. Begonnen vanuit een ‘ouderwetse’ tenniswinkel in 2000, groeide SportShopsDirect uit tot een e-commerce specialist met ruim 650.000 klanten en vier fysieke winkels annex servicepunten. Handbalvrienden Robert-Jan Peters en Mark van Gijzel richtten in 2002 hun eerst online sportwinkels op, met name gericht op de indoorsporten. Zij bouwden een klantenbestand van ruim 400.000 sporters, met name in de Benelux. Later zijn er in de Benelux en internationaal ook online hardloop shops geopend. Passa Sports wordt geleid door de oprichters, Guido Koekkelkoren (CEO), Robert-Jan Peters (COO) en Mark van Gijzel (CFO). Passa Sports wil binnen de Benelux groeien naar 100 miljoen euro.
