Posted On: Following the debut of the Rugged G1, eBikeGo, a bicycle rental company that began as an electric bike provider, has acquired production and marketing rights for a born-in-Spain e-scooter. Beginning in March 2022, EBikeGo will begin manufacturing the Torrot Muvi electric scooter in India; this scooter will be available in India and exported to foreign markets from there. Most electric scooters on sale in India now, according to eBikeGo, are kits imported from China with doubtful quality and dependability, and its decision to acquire the Muvi from Torrot is in keeping with its aim of giving a much-needed boost to genuine manufacturers of electric two-wheelers. Since 2015, Torrot has invested heavily in R&D, and it has already launched the e-scooter in 12 nations. The Torrot Muvi is a cheap e-scooter that was first introduced in 2017. It’s a rather basic e-scooter with the goal of providing convenience, and it features two detachable lithium-ion battery packs – which may be swapped at a swap station or charged at home using a normal plug point (with a charge time of five hours). In Eco mode, the Muvi has a distance range of up to 103 kilometers. In Eco mode, the Torrot Muvi travels up to 103 kilometers. The e-scooter, which has a tubular steel frame, a telescopic fork with a side-mounted monoshock, and 16-inch aluminium wheels with 90/80-section tyres, is equipped with disc brakes front and rear and a standard integrated braking system. The weight of the Muvi (with batteries) is set at 93 kg. The Torrot Muvi’s instrument panel is a four-inch LCD display that displays information like real-time charge status and ride statistics. The Muvi is available in two versions in Europe: Executive and City. The Executive has a peak power output of 4.1 hp, whereas the City is restricted to 3.6 hp; both have the same torque output of 35 Nm. The top speed of the Executive Muvi is 60 km/h, while the Speed Muvi City is limited to 45 km/h (with a capacity of 25 to 85 liters). Torrot also sells a “Business” version of the e-scooter with a luggage rack and top box (with a capacity of 25 to 85 litres) for commercial use. With the Torrot Muvi e-scooter, EBikeGo seeks to capture around five percent of the global e-two-wheeler market. There is no word on the price of the Torrot Muvi e-scooter in India yet; however, it will most likely be less expensive than the Rugged G1, which starts at $90,000 and ranges up to $125,000 depending on model (ex-showroom). Deliveries are expected to begin near the end of December 2021.
