High-end design details set Millennium Central Lonsdale apart

Advertisement Article content But Sean Lin, sales director of Magnum Projects, the company marketing Millennium Central Lonsdale , and a more than 20-year resident in the area, believes the city’s core was missing a “true luxury development” – a gap he says will be filled by the new building with materials like limestone, wood accents and contemporary glass enhancing its West Coast modern architecture. Photo by Supplied /PNG The double height of the grand entrance lobby with its spectacular book-matched marble-look wall feature, comfortable seating and stylish chandelier are designed to set the tone for the building’s upscale ambience and reflect the high-end finishes featured throughout the interiors. The residential units include one-, two- and three-bedroom condos and eight two-storey townhouses on the south side of the building. Advertisement Article content Bernstein says the residential tower terraces create generous outdoor spaces for the larger homes, maximizing the views that take in the downtown Vancouver skyline. On the rooftop of the podium are most of the 15,000 square feet of amenities for the building’s residents, including a clubhouse, an outdoor heated infinity pool, hot tub, fitness centre, yoga studio and even a small, designated dog park where residents can walk their pets. Photo by Supplied /PNG “For people downsizing to a three-bedroom unit, they can easily convert it to a two-bedroom and family room; it’s very much what downsizers look for,” he says, adding that the balconies range from 100 to 400 square feet (depending on the selected floorplan) and most residents will enjoy spectacular views. Advertisement Article content David Orr, interior designer at CDA, incorporated Italian-made cabinetry by Aster Cucine, luxe Grohe bathroom fixtures and premium Miele appliances (gas cooktop, oven, and the fully integrated refrigerator and dishwasher) to epitomize the high-end design that is characteristic of the Millennium Group’s projects. The interior design team created two palettes, both based on the concept of contrast. Pearl, the lighter option, has flat panel white kitchen cabinets in a gloss finish, while the quartz countertop and backsplash, with its white background and distinctive charcoal and black veining, are an example of the contrast that inspired the palette. In the Onyx palette, the kitchen cabinetry is a Wenge-like wood grain (melamine finish) for the base and uppers, while the Et Marquina black quartz countertop and full-height backsplash, with white and light grey veining, will be the conversation starter in kitchens where buyers have opted for the darker scheme. Advertisement Article content The contrast that underpins the Pearl and Onyx schemes continues in the ensuite bathrooms. The Pearl design features oversized 24- by 48-inch marble-look porcelain tiles while the elmwood grain (melamine finish) floating vanity contrasts against the all-white plumbing fixtures – like the soaker tub with its floor-mounted faucet. In the darker option, the design team selected elegant over-sized porcelain tiles with a dramatic calacatta Renoir-look to contrast against the white plumbing fixtures, including a deep, free-standing soaker tub. The design choices in the bathrooms knit with those in the kitchen, explains Orr. Advertisement Article content “The elements don’t have to be the same, but they do need to blend together, so the visual cues [enable it to] read as a cohesive space,” he says. Lin points to the smart lock that enables keyless entry to the residences as one of the influences from hospitality design that has been incorporated in Millennium Central Lonsdale. Other smart technology includes a touchscreen to control lights and a Nest Learning Thermostat that controls temperature. Millennium Central Lonsdale residents will also find the location very convenient, says Lin. “It’s a very walkable location with everything you need, Whole Foods, medical facilities, library, coffee shops and restaurants all within a few blocks,” he says. The underground parkade is accessed via the lane, and the building also has bike storage for cycling enthusiasts.
