Bass player passes away in Tokyo, Japan Photo: wenn Booker T star Donald Dunn has dided, aged 70, today (May 13). The bass player, affectionately known as 'Duck', reportedly died in his sleep in a hotel in Toyo, Japan where he was staying ahead of a series of live shows. Steve Cropper, who was on the same tour as Dunn, confirmed the news via his Facebook page, saying: "Today I lost my best friend. The World has lost the best guy and bass player to ever live". The news was also confirmed by, Miho Harasawa, a spokeswoman for Tokyo Blue Note, where Dunn most recently played. Dunn played on a number of hit singles for Booker T, including their huge hit 'Green Onions'. He also performed and recorded with Otis Redding. Donald Dunn 1941 - 2012 RIP
