International customers are historically strong Systematic accounts

Dec 21, 2020

Systematics founder and CEO Michael Holm The year also marks a strategic turning point, as international customers now fill most of the company’s order book. For the first time in Systematic’s history, orders from foreign customers are more than Danish ones. In 2014, 84% of Systematic’s activity came from Denmark, but year by year the company has moved towards increased exports, and this year the share of order intake from abroad is 55%, which is the highest in the company’s history. – The development is completely in line with Systematic’s strategy to increase our presence in the global market. Our software products for the defense have paved the way for export, so that several segments abroad have opened their eyes to our solutions for the health, education and supply area, says Systematic’s founder and CEO Michael Holm. The financial year, which runs from 1 October to 30 September, shows a revenue increase of 9% to DKK 1.1 billion, and an operating profit (EBIT) of DKK 147 million, which represents an increase of 62% compared to the previous year, which considered satisfactory. Standard software paves the way for new customer segments Michael Holm is pleased that a larger part of the growth in the completed financial year has taken place through increased sales of Systematic’s in-house developed standard solutions, which underpins the strategic shift in which the company moves from being project-based to product-based. – We are working to transform the company from project house to product house, and we can, because over time we have created a number of well-proven high-quality standard solutions, which we can now take off the shelf and adapt effectively to customers in different sectors, says Michael Holm. A good example is the naval coordination solution, SITE, which is created based on the company’s main product for the defense, SitaWare. SITE has just been sold to the German energy giant RWE’s offshore wind farms, and with large customers such as Vattenfall and Ørsted in the customer portfolio, Systematic is today the world’s largest provider of marine coordination solutions for the wind turbine industry. This year’s progress was due, among other things, to solid orders from the German and Australian defense at SitaWare, which also, among other things, The USA, Denmark, Sweden and New Zealand continue to invest in. In total, customers from 26 different countries have ordered comprehensive software solutions for the defense, healthcare, supply and library areas in the past financial year. The order intake from the Danish market includes i.a. a vehicle solution for the National Police, a data platform for the Danish Road Directorate and a project between Aarhus Vand, Vandcenter Syd and Systematic on digitization of the water sector; an area Systematic expects a lot from in the coming years. Systematic safely manages through the early stages of the Corona crisis The corona crisis cannot be read immediately in the financial statements, even though Systematic has been hit by the closures of all offices in 10 countries. In March, all 1,100 employees were repatriated, and a high proportion of the company’s employees continue to work from home. When there was an urgent need to increase the capacity of the coronate centers in March, Systematic offered to tailor its hospital solution Columna Flow free of charge to give the authorities an overall capacity overview of the number of bookings, tests, inpatients, intensive care patients, etc. The solution is used today in all test centers in Denmark. The outbreak of Covid-19 has challenged several of Systematic’s ongoing projects, but no more than the company has been able to deliver the vast majority of its tasks on time. – In Sweden, we were in full swing rolling out our service logistics solution at seven hospitals in the Västra Götaland region when we had to pull our people home. We continued teaching and implementation at a distance, and today the project continues to meet the schedule, and we expect it to be completed in early 2021, says Michael Holm. However, travel restrictions have made it more difficult to reach new customers in new markets, even though Systematic has moved some of its online sales activities. – It can not avoid having an effect when you can only use one leg in the sales work. We can also feel that a number of existing customers in the healthcare area are insecure and reluctant in relation to new investments, where the focus is now naturally on efficiency and production, says Michael Holm, whose expectations for the financial results for the financial year 2020/21 are at the same level as the year just ended. 2019/20 mDKK. * *The article has been translated based on the content of IT-Kanalen by it-kanalen.dk .
