Chamath Palihapitiya

Chamath Palihapitiya has been a director since October 2019 and our Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of our board of directors since January 2020. Mr. Palihapitiya founded Social Capital in 2011 and has been its Managing Partner since its inception. Mr. Palihapitiya served as the Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IPOA from May 2017 until the consummation of its business combination with Virgin Galactic in October 2019, and continues to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Virgin Galactic. Mr. Palihapitiya also served as a director of Slack Technologies Inc. from April 2014 until October 2019. Prior to founding Social Capital in 2011, Mr. Palihapitiya served as Vice President of User Growth at Facebook, and is recognized as having been a major force in its launch and growth. Mr. Palihapitiya was responsible for overseeing Monetization Products and Facebook Platform, both of which were key factors driving the increase in Facebook’s user base to more than 750 million individuals worldwide. Prior to working for Facebook, Mr. Palihapitiya was a principal at the Mayfield Fund, one of the United States’ oldest venture firms, before which he headed the instant messaging division at AOL. Mr. Palihapitiya graduated from the University of Waterloo, Canada with a degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Palihapitiya is well qualified to serve as the Chairperson of our board of directors because of his extensive management history and experience in identifying, investing in and building next-generation technologies and companies.

Jay Zaveri

Jay Zaveri is a partner at Social Capital, a top decile investment firm in Silicon Valley. Jay makes concentrated investments in companies solving forty of the world’s hardest problems by 2045. Key investments include Swarm, Aclima, Syapse, UrbanFootprint, DroneSeed, Saildrone, Relativity, Ashvattha, Journal and Datacoral. Prior to joining Social Capital, Jay has been a successful technology entrepreneur. He co-founded three technology companies, the most recent of which was mobile productivity application CloudOn, which had ten million enterprise users and was acquired by Dropbox in 2014. Jay has built companies, products and platforms that have scaled to millions of active users in consumer, mobile and enterprise software. His love for cartoons and work in the new media tech space has won him 18 awards, including a Hollywood Film Festival for Best Animated Short.

John Kuelper is a Managing Director at Ascension Ventures, a strategic venture capital and growth equity firm with over $1 billion under management which invests in health IT, health services, medical devices and diagnostics on behalf of thirteen of the nation's largest non-profit health systems. John focuses on investments in data-intensive enterprise and clinical technologies that serve healthcare providers and consumers. John leads AV's investments in Olive (operational AI for healthcare), Reputation (customer experience management for distributed brands), Syapse (real world data for clinical research), Intelligent Medical Objects (clinical data infrastructure), Cofactor Genomics (predictive systems biology modeling with RNA), AristaMD (specialty care management through eConsults), and Healthmyne (applied radiomics for quantitative imaging). John is Founder and President of Qualia Holdings LLC, a platform for systems biology and software ventures. He has advised or worked for several investment firms (Adams Street Partners, Sterling Partners, Abundant Venture Partners), life sciences companies (Stereotaxis, Orpheden Therapeutics), and non-profits (The Kresge Foundation, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association). John began his career as a medical researcher studying computational neuroscience and medical robotics and has over fifteen years of experience as a commercial software developer. John earned JD and MBA degrees from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and Kellogg School of Management where he graduated with honors and was elected Beta Gamma Sigma (top 10% of class). He earned a BA in cognitive neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating magna cum laude. In 2014 he was elected to the Kauffman Fellows Society.
