EnStorage aims to provide financially-viable, high-reliability energy-storage-system (ESS) for power grid load leveling, Solar and Wind power generation plants.

Florado Entek

Florado Entek is a company that received a SBIR Phase I grant for a project entitled: Ultrahigh Permittivity Polymer Derived Ceramic for Energy Storage Applications. Their project aims to develop a new class of Polymer Derived Ceramics (PDC) with ultrahigh permittivity for energy storage applications. Research will be performed to understand the effects of structural parameters controlling space charge polarization and percolation via carbon clusters on the dielectric properties of Polymer Derived Ceramics. The overall objective is to increase the permittivity of Polymer Derived Ceramics by a factor of 5 to 10. The broader societal/commercial impact of this project will be to provide a new material for high capacitance energy storage applications which would lead to dramatic improvements in compactness of electrical energy storage (EES) systems. This research project is expected to contribute to the developing multi-billion-dollar electric vehicle market.

Molecular Nanosystems

Molecular Nanosystems' goal is to develop nanotube-based gas, chemical and bio-sensors and other high-end electronics devices. The company's suite of nanotube-based products is intended to provide improvements in scale, density, sensitivity, selectivity, integration and power consumption over existing products. Some of the early applications include carbon nanotube tips for atomic force microscopes and nanotube-based gas sensors. Molecular Nanosystems is also working in partnership with leading companies in various fields to develop their next generation of products, where replacing the conventional components with carbon nanotube-based ones provides improved performance, while lowering manufacturing costs. Integration of the company's proprietary site-selective CVD technology into established manufacturing processes helps Molecular Nanosystems' partners gain a competitive edge, while opening new opportunities in their R&D efforts.
