Summit's programmable power management solutions increase the reliability of switches and routers for enterprise equipment, improve the cost and performance of cellular base stations, ensure reliability in DSL equipment, increase battery operating life in cell phones and improve reliability in products ranging from automotive systems and military radios to marine navigation electronics. Summit's solutions integrate high level analog circuits with logic and embedded nonvolatile EE memory cells which are all programmable via a simple GUI software interface. This enables Summit to provide platform based solutions rather than point products, enabling both Summit and our customers to enjoy leveraging an individual device across many customer designs, all with unique operating configuration requirements.

Qualcomm has announced the acquisition of Summit Microelectronics, a company that specializes in producing power management circuits. Qualcomm says that this purchase will greatly enhance its power management roadmap for future processors, and that the company will be better able to produce battery-efficient processors with advanced capabilities like 4G LTE support. Qualcomm says that all of Summit Microelectronics’ employees will be a part of its CDMA Technologies division. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Read the full story here.
