Posted On February 11, 2022 CPP-LUXURY 0 What motivated to pursue a career in luxury hospitality ? It started quiet early, when my older sister started an apprenticeship as a chef in a Michelin star restaurant back in Switzerland. My parents who were real foodies us to take me with them for those typical 4 hours meal, with the good excuse to visit her and I was always fascinated and very quickly attracted to this world Are there are cons / challenges  Of course,  luxury doesn’t allow you  to underperform, and when you do so, “something” hit the fan and you need to fix it right away What makes a great leader in luxury hospitality? I tend to believe that humility, curiosity and leading by example are some of the greatest ingredients Tell us more about your leadership style which has been greatly ‘’tested’’ during the pandemic? Leading by example and being hands on have definitively contributed to pass the test in 2020 What is your view on the your generation – discovering, nurturing and motivating talent. I think that the pond of new talent is greater than ever. They are so many talents to be, coming out of amazing schools and with already so much experience lived thanks to their connections, there being well travelled, hard work and eagerness to success I think most people interested and pursuing in luxury have a natural talent for it. A manager is able to recognize those talents by listening to guest comments’ feedback, watching there attitude to exceed guests expectations and their fight for moving on with their career. As their leader we have to coach them, praise them and identifying what is their natural talent so they can developed fully. Besides a financial compensation how does an employee become loyal? First I think that people need to try new things, new companies to have their own opinion. For those looking for a career, i think that as long as they are being fed with new challenges and opportunities, chances are the will stay with you. But I do no see a departure as a ”failure” neither, as it is always great to see them evolving elsewhere and becoming better and better. Eventually when meeting them again you may get a chance to work with them again and gain from their experiences too With opening and closing the property during different phases of the pandemic, what are the lessons you learned  Either you have a quick response to changes of situations or the competition will beat you. Consistency and reliability is at the heart of it all I agree with reliability. As of consistency this may not always apply during turbulences To what extent GM take on the role of an entrepreneur? On one hand It’s a matter of luck, having corporate on your side or not, can make you grow amazingly well. Now on the other side you need to win their confidence first, by performing well
