Kerrie AdamsonThe West Australian Anita, 54, says: I knew straight away when I met Stuart that we were not a match. I just knew, I am very good at reading people and I knew that we wouldn’t be anything more than friends. I still had a really good night though because I thought to myself, you can become negative about the fact it isn’t a good match, or you can just enjoy the experience and get to know someone new! Stuart is very quiet compared to me – I’m a very loud and outgoing person and probably too much for him. During the date, he probably had one or two beers so I took one for the team and enjoyed a few too many. Camera Icon Anita took one for the team and got stuck into the bar tab. Credit: John Koh/The West Australian I wouldn’t say I was too nervous before the date. In 2019, I met so many idiots on Tinder, I could honestly write a book so I thought nothing could be as bad as one of them. Nothing shocks me anymore. One thing that bothered me about our date was that he didn’t tell me I looked nice. That is a big no no for me given I put a lot of effort into my appearance. I spent a long time getting ready so it would have been nice if that was acknowledged. We talked about a lot of things. Our lives and hobbies are very different. Stuart has never been married and doesn’t have any kids. I have a 21-year-old son who is my whole life. I’m also really into travelling and have visited 18 countries but Stuart is yet to travel much outside of Australia. We spoke about his vintage cars and how he is an extra in movies which I thought was pretty cool. I don’t really feel like we bonded over a lot. It was more just general chit chat. There was no chemistry at all but I get along with everyone so it doesn’t bother me, I still had a good time. I’m happy to stay friends – I like to have all different types of people in my life. I did say that I would have him over for dinner because I do love cooking and have been told I should apply for MasterChef, but only as a friend. 7/10 Stuart, 53, says: The nerves for me weren’t too bad going in – I was quite excited to meet someone new. I’m not big into using the apps. I am a pretty social person and would prefer to meet people when I’m out and about. There are a lot of scary people out there on the apps lacking in social skills so I figured I’d try something new and applied for Blind Date after seeing it on Facebook. I arrived just after my date, about 15 minutes early. Anita seems like a really nice woman. I wouldn’t say we bonded over a lot but the conversation never stalled that’s for sure. Camera Icon Stuart said he and Anita were probably not a match, but he did try to give her a puppy. Credit: John Koh/The West Australian We did relate over our love of food — I would consider us both foodies. Anita loves to cook and enjoys cooking for family and friends. I love to eat out. She’s recently found a new angle on life and is studying, which I found cool. We had a few good laughs along the way, told a few jokes and shared some memes we had seen recently. I did try giving one of my puppies away to her after my dog had an accidental litter. I’d describe Anita as a very happy and bubbly person. It was nice to speak to someone so excited about their new career. I think it takes a lot of courage to make that decision and follow through with it. I wouldn’t say there was a spark between us at all. More just a friend vibe. I do think we will stay in touch though, but as mates. We were pretty different as people but that’s OK. I would normally go for someone a tad younger than me. Someone young at heart. People my age always seem so old. We ended up staying until closing and were one of the last people in the restaurant. Like I said, conversation flowed and never stopped but we just lacked spark. We exchanged numbers and Anita did mention something about cooking dinner. 7/10 Apply for Blind Date by entering your details below.
