Storify end-of-life made easier by Wakelet import tool

Jun 2, 2020

Storify end-of-life made easier by Wakelet import tool by Startacus Admin When Storify announced last December that it will officially shut down in May 2018,  Wakelet a free-to- use content curation platform saw an opportunity, and quickly came up with a solution for Wakelet users to find a new home for their content. Storify, a leading digital publishing tool that allowed users to chronologically order links and social media posts, along with their own notes to tell a digital story, announced last December that it was closing down. The platform was very popular with news organizations, educators, and journalists, as well as some big names such as FC Barcelona and the European Parliament. Step forward, UK Startup Wakelet , a free-to-use content curation platform that lets you save articles, videos, images, social posts, and pretty much anything to use later. Founder Jamil Khalil created Wakelet , based in Manchester, UK, as a response to the disorganisation of the web - a web that favours disjointed chunks of information over human curated stories. Jamil explained how they aim to welcome Storify users, the World over:  “When we heard that Storify was closing its doors, we immediately thought  about all the content that their users could potentially lose. We quickly created an easy to use tool that lets people import this content to a new Wakelet account, where they can discover even more ways to use the platform!" The free content curation platform has very similar functionality to Storify and since they announced the quickfire introduction of this import tool, Storify have even recommended  Wakelet as the best alternative option! Nice work Wakelet team. As Storify’s closure date looms closer, perhaps this bold move by Wakelet may mean that the end of Storify might not mean the end-of-life for their users curated content afterall.
