Oct 3, 2013, 8:04am CDT Updated Oct 3, 2013, 8:21am CDT //= $authorImg ?> Save Article Southwest Bancorp announced that it will merge two of its banks, including Bank of Kansas , to create a new entity called Bank SNB. The Stillwater, Okla., holding company followed that in June 2009 with the acquisition of First National Bank of Anthony , which gave it a location in Overland Park, merging the company into Bank of Kansas. Now Southwest Bancorp announced it will merge Bank of Kansas with its other bank, Stillwater National Bank , and rebrand the entity as Bank SNB. "The reason for the consolidation is to gain efficiency and serve our customers better throughout our footprint," said David Pitts , chief banking officer for Bank of Kansas. "Our banks are in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Right now we have a charter in Kansas that can't do business with our sister banks in Oklahoma and Texas. So we're consolidating the two charters. " Stillwater National Bank has a national charter. But the company will use the Bank SNB brand to better fit its overall network. "We're excited to be in the Kansas City market, which was a major reason we acquired First National Bank of Anthony," Pitts said. "We're obviously committed to Kansas and Kansas City. There aren't any announcements of acquisition plans right now, but we're certainly focused on filling out our footprint. " Southwest Bancorp was organized in 1981 and currently has about $2 billion in assets. Want Kansas City Banking & Financial Services news in your inbox? Sign up for our free email newsletters.
