StatsRoyale is best known for gathering and analyzing large amounts of data from the game’s reward chest system, and according to Business Insider has over 20 million monthly active users. This acquisition by Overwolf represents a continued expansion of the esports service industry. “I was actively thinking on how we could help the Clash Royale with tools and services,” said Overwolf CEO and co-founder Uri Marchand. “When I first heard of StatsRoyal.com through my 8 year old son, I became a fan. I felt that there’s a very strong alignment between our core offering in Overwolf and StatsRoyal.com.” Overwolf has spent almost seven years creating overlay apps that integrate with competitive gaming titles and provide additional functions that “give players tools to compete, communicate, hone their play, and socially share highlights.” The company has used that access to create partnerships and apps with some of the biggest names in gaming and tech, including Skype, Twitch , and Nvidia. It has also forged partnerships with esports teams like Cloud9 , game developers like Riot Games , and esports organizations like FACEIT and GosuGamers . The company also provides advanced data analytics to companies like Newzoo, who releases monthly reports using Overwolf data of the most played games. This acquisition by Overwolf represents a continued expansion of the esports service industry, aimed at providing more functionality to gamers and better data for companies. Earlier this year, Overwolf’s advertising services were taken over to Playwire Media, a monetization and ad agency that has worked in the past with GameStop and Miniclip. The purchase is also a good sign for Clash Royale, one of the hottest mobile gaming titles this year. Shortly after winning the Gaming BAFTA’s AMD Esports Audience Award, the game’s developer SUPERCELL announced a global competitive series with a $44,000 prize pool.
