UKHotViews Star Academies Trust has appointed Insight Direct as its ICT delivery partner in a 7-year contract worth an estimated £45m (when ongoing regional support is factored in). Based in Blackburn, the trust runs a network of over 30 primary and secondary schools across five regions: Lancashire, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire, the Midlands and London Much of the contract pertains to equipment (hardware comprises 45%, school ICT solutions – including AV equipment – 20%, and broadband / network connectivity 10%), but there’s also software (10%) and support (15%) components. Founded in Arizona in 1988, Insight entered the UK market in 1997 and has evolved from a hardware and software reseller to become a trusted advisor and solutions provider. It serves both private and public sector customers, but reserves a dedicated section of its website for the latter (with a focus on central, local, and devolved government, education, healthcare, and police). As its “ICT Delivery Partner”, Star Academies Trust is looking to Insight to take responsibility for ICT supply, procurement, implementation, and resourcing – leaving the Trust’s IT team to focus on ICT management and ensuring that the provision meets the teaching and learning needs of the schools.
