Submitted by Raoul Girard on Sat, 12/07/2013 - 04:51 It has been revealed by officials that there are very less chances that a large group of pilot whales stranded in Florida's Everglades National Park has gone out to sea. They said this after spotting seven whales that have joined other swimming slowly in shallow water. This is certainly not encouraging for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The whales have not been able to ensure their survival as they have yet not headed towards the deeper water which is essential for their survival. What is worsening the plight of the whales is the days of dehydration that would take a toll on their health. Experts were of the view on earlier Friday that the whales must have headed to sea because they were not able to spot them. Blair Mase, coordinator of the NOAA Fisheries Southeast Marine Mammal Stranding Network, said rescuers were not able to spot them after 51 whales were discovered stranded on Tuesday. As many as 11 whales died by Thursday afternoon, whereas five were unaccounted for. Officials were not able to paint a clear picture whether the seven whales were among 35 surviving whales that had left the shore on Thursday or were previously unaccounted for members of the pod.
