ActionStreamer raises $2.4 million Series A to further develop IoT streaming tech

Feb 6, 2024

2.6.2024 ActionStreamer, which to date is best known for its point-of-view camera solutions, has raised a $2.4 million Series A round to further develop its IoT streaming technology. JumpStart Ventures led the investment through the Advanced Manufacturing Fund and with support from MAGNET. The Castellini Management Company, the ownership family of the Cincinnati Reds, also participated. Co-founded by retired NFL linebacker Dhani Jones and tech entrepreneur Chris McLennan, ActionStreamer started with wearable POV cameras that were used in NFL, MLB, USFL, SailGP, and RedBull events, as well as by the US Air Force and in partnership with T-Mobile and AWS. Then-Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wore one during exhibition warmups; the catcher donned an ActionStreamer camera for the 2021 MLB Home Run Derby . Even at the time ActionStreamer partnered with Vicis in 2019 for football helmets such as Wilson’s, the company’s Chief Growth Officer, Greg Roberts, noted that its core IP was more its patented data transmission tech than the actual camera. This new investment will further enhance those capabilities through cloud-based API and SDK offerings. “The capital will be used to accelerate development of our platform, which allows us to continue delivering transformational streaming solutions and services to our clients in a variety of industries that include sports, entertainment, and live events,” Roberts wrote in an email.
