Aug. 6, 2018 SmartGridCIS, a provider of utility billing and CIS solutions, has partnered with GridPlus Texas to introduce blockchain technology for energy purchasing and management. GridPlus will use blockchain to automate payments and give customers greater control over their energy use, according to a press release. The two companies eventually plan to introduce an in-home smart agent device. This device will use ratification intelligence and blockchain technology to make energy adjustments around the home, based on a user's requests, according to the release. "Giving customers more choices and more control over their energy usage is at the heart of the GridPlus business model and the SmartGridCIS billing solution was the logical choice to facilitate our billing needs," GridPlus CEO John Werner said in the release. "It gives us the ability to fully leverage tools within the market by customizing the software to suit our backoffice operational needs. It is a perfect match for GridPlus and what we are setting out to accomplish."
