Slovic brings more than a decade of experience in the biotechnology and agricultural science industry. “Smart Agriculture Analytics opens a field of opportunities for global agricultural companies. With SAA’s proven success building tools to accelerate business in China, Brazil is a logical next step. Brazil’s presence as a global giant in agricultural production, and its important role as a trade partner with China, makes SAA the ideal platform for companies that seek to expand business between the two countries,” said Dr. Slovic. “I'm excited to be a part of this visionary team to help both countries deploy safe, efficient agricultural technologies.” Dr. Slovic most recently worked in the Corporate Innovation and Technology branch of Braskem S.A., the largest petrochemical company in Latin America, where he founded the Biotechnology Area while working closely with Brazil’s Ministry of Science and Technology and the Brazilian National Development Bank. Prior to working with Braskem, Dr. Slovic was responsible for scaling technologies to produce advanced biofuels from sugarcane in Brazil at Amyris, where he built the first team to develop GMO micro-organisms for renewable chemicals in Latin America. He is named on 17 patents, holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University. “Strong market intuition and extensive local experience will be critical to our expansion in Brazil,” said Manuela Zoninsein, founder and CEO of Smart Agriculture Analytics. “Avram’s proven track record in fast paced, cross-cultural technology companies and his experience in successfully deploying new innovations will help Smart Agriculture Analytics become the leading platform for agriculture technology innovators who are leading the way into new markets.” Smart Agriculture Analytics was recently selected by Start-Up Brasil, a national program to accelerate emerging technology-based companies as an initiative by Brazil’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
