DBTA Webcast Features Strategies for Cloud Analytics Success

Jun 19, 2020

DBTA Webcast Features Strategies for Cloud Analytics Success Jun 19, 2020 The cloud is increasingly becoming the go-to destination for data analytics at enterprises today. Looking to capitalize on the promise of reduced costs and greater scalability and flexibility, more and more organizations are adopting hybrid and multicloud strategies to break down data silos, increase collaboration and equip decision-makers with faster access to actionable business insights. However, success means creating a data management strategy and supporting it with technologies that enable organizations to easily span multiple clouds to ensure flexible data connectivity and access, eliminate single points of failure and maintain acceptable performance and security. DBTA recently held a webinar featuring Jeff Bayntun, manager, customer success, Simba Technologies, a Magnitude company and Nick Panahi, product manager, DataStax, who discussed how IT decision makers and influencers can chart their course to cloud analytics success. To make the best decisions, it’s important to include data from all the relevant data sources, Panahi said. There are several things to consider, such as: Do your BI tools have all the connectors you need? Are you able to move all this data to your data lake? Do you need a data prep layer to get data into a consistent format? Does this layer have connectivity to all your data sources? Simba and DataStax are partnering to offer easy to use connectivity for applications like Tableau, Power BI, Informatica, and Alteryx. Simba provides standards based connectivity to all kinds of data sources, is fully SQL capable, and supports major BI and other data applications, according to Bayntun. Their current partnership continues to focus on improving user experience. Simba’s recent GA release added DSE Smart Drivers and improved Spark/Cassandra support. Their combined partnership helps assist cloud development and integration. DataStax Astra is a cloud-native database as a service built on apache Cassandra and architected for the cloud, Panahi said. It benefits end users, IT, and the enterprise as a whole by reducing time IT spends managing connectivity updates, getting users quick access to data source updates, and improving the value of insights for the enterprise. DataStax also offers solutions that boost the cloud. DataStax Vector is an AIOps service that continually assesses how Cassandra is used, to provide near real time expert advice, knowledge, and skills so that operators and developers can be consistency successful with Apache Cassandra.
