Craig Cornelius is the Chief Executive Officer of Clearway Energy Group (“Clearway”), one of the leading clean energy companies in the United States. Including assets held through its affiliates, Clearway owns and operates over 7.5 GW in generation assets across 25 states, including one of the nation’s largest renewable energy fleets with 5 GW in solar, wind, and energy storage. Clearway is also one of the country’s largest developers of clean energy projects, having completed more than 1 GW of new projects last year and continuously advancing a nationwide pipeline of over 10 GW. Prior to the formation of Clearway from NRG’s clean energy platforms in 2018, Craig was President of NRG’s renewables division, overseeing origination, development, engineering & construction, operations, and asset management across the company’s businesses in wind, utility solar, and distributed solar. He joined NRG in 2013, and before assuming leadership of its renewables division, led new business development for renewables, including the establishment of development platforms in new market segments, acquisition of projects, and direction of process improvement initiatives. Prior to joining NRG, Craig served as a Principal and then a Managing Director at Hudson Clean Energy Partners, serving in the firm’s solar investing practice. Previously, he was the Program Manager of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Energy Technologies Program, where he led the creation of the $1.5 Billion Solar America Initiative. He has also served terms at the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the U.S. National Academies of Science. Craig holds an A.B. from Princeton University in History of Science and an M.A. in Science, Technology and Public Policy from George Washington University.
