Alice Sansone, VP & General Counsel for MC10 Speaker Bios: Ben Cooper, Co-Founder & CEO, Sensible Baby Ben and his company, Sensible Baby, are at the frontier of smart baby products. His startup is revolutionizing the way we think about parenting by providing tools to create more “intelligent” parents. Prior to Sensible Baby, Ben was a senior Materials Engineer for the US Air Force, developing personal protective equipment for Airmen. He also operated as the Lead Footwear Project Engineer for the US Army and managed all the technical aspects of their footwear programs. He led the fast-pace multimillion-dollar development effort of the US Army’s Hot Weather Mountain Combat Boot program that supported the unique needs of deploying soldiers in Afghanistan. Ben has been a key contributor and researcher in shoe-surface studies sponsored by the NFL, specifically during their investigation of artificial turf and footwear performance. Ben received a B.S. in Biomedical Physics from Northeastern University and M.S. in Biomechanics with high distinction from Boise State University. Lawrence C. Grumer, Co-Founder & CEO, Energy Harvesters LLC Larry is an expert in technology commercialization and strategy. He was CEO of a prior energy harvesting startup in MEMS packaged electronics. Larry has partnered to launch 6 companies; across wireless internet, web 3.0, mobile power sources, propulsion systems, and software defined test and measurement. He has 25 years of P&L leadership with large corporations (Textron, Arthur D. Little), small companies (Foster-Miller) and start-ups. He has led a US-CDN joint venture and managed business re-starts, turnarounds and restructures. For nearly a decade, Larry led the IEEE Boston Entrepreneurs’ Network, was a founding Board member of the North Shore Technology Council and created the EntreTech Forum to address the commercialization of university and government technology. Larry was the I-cubator Director and venture course instructor for the M.S. in Technological Entrepreneurship program at Northeastern University’s School of Technological Entrepreneurship. Larry received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA with high distinction from Northeastern University. David Hayden, Massachusetts Institute of Technology David is a PhD student in the Robotics, Vision, and Sensor Networks Group and founder of Essistive Technologies. His research focuses on developing machine learning and computer vision techniques that enable situationally-aware wearable technologies, with special focus on identifying and augmenting human social interactions. When not in the lab, he is developing and distributing assistive technologies for individuals with limited vision through Essistive Technologies. He has worked with Google, NASA, and Microsoft, has published on wearables, assistive technology, and AI-enhanced space exploration, won multiple international awards and is a Graduate Research Fellow for the National Science Foundation. David received his B.S. in Mathematics as well as Computer Science at Arizona State University, and his M.S. in Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Alice Sansone, VP & General Counsel for MC10 Alice has spent her career counseling high-tech companies on complicated intellectual property issues, commercial negotiations, manufacturing and supply chain matters, merger and acquisition activity, and corporate growth and strategy. Prior to joining MC10 in 2013, she was the General Counsel of Kiva Systems, which pioneered disruptive robotic automation technology in the material handling industry and was acquired by Amazon for $775M in 2012. Prior to Kiva, Alice was counsel to Avid Technology, a publicly traded media company that delivers innovative digital non-linear editing technology to the film and television industry. Alice has also served as General Counsel to four emerging technology companies based in New Hampshire, and began her career in private practice at a major Boston law firm. Alice received a B.A. Phi Beta Kappa from Wellesley College, a J.D. from NYU School of Law, and studied Political Philosophy at the University of Oxford.
