According to Higginbotham, the merger enables the combined company access to a local workforce of 16 serving businesses and families across northeast Texas. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Higginbotha is among the largest independent insurance brokers in the state. The insurance broker operates 29 offices in Texas and Oklahoma City, which it says collaborate to offer a single source solution for insurance and financial services. Higginbotham brokers business insurance, employee benefits, retirement plans, executive benefits, life insurance and home/auto insurance from over 250 regional and national carriers. Sellers-Patterson, on the other hand, is an employee benefits and individual health insurance broker. The company is expected to leverage on the property/casualty insurance capabilities of Higginbotham to grow its service portfolio. Sellers-Patterson principal Linda Sellers said: “Our emphasis is always on providing year-round service to our insureds. “Partnering with Higginbotham allows us to deepen our customer service and offer more options for other lines of insurance, including commercial property and casualty.” Sellers-Patterson’s office in Tyler will now be the second for Higginbotham in the city. Higginbotham’s first office in Tyler was set up in 2014 when it had forayed into the market. Higginbotham managing director in Tyler Scott Kirkpatrick said: “Sellers-Patterson has a similar value system that will strengthen Higginbotham’s capabilities to serve customers in Tyler. We’re happy to team up with Linda and her associates. “Her involvement in developing our city demonstrates an energy that will be an asset as we continue to grow.” Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed. In late April, Higginbotham merged its Lubbock, Texas operations with that of Butler Carson Tate Insurance, an independent commercial and personal property/casualty agency. Prior to that, in January 2018, Higginbotham expanded its footprint further north in West Texas by merging with Independent Insurance Agents of Plainview (IIAP). Related
