MBSP, Boost Business ink MoU to help Seberang Perai traders Graphic credit to MBSP FB page 23/09/2021 05:17 PM BUTTERWORTH, Sept 23 -- The Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) and Boost Business have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as an initiative to help over 46,000 micro traders in Seberang Perai affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. MBSP mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the initiative implemented under the Digital Biz programme comprised several digitisation steps, including diversifying online services for traders to apply for new licences and renew licences for their businesses. "The Digital Biz programme will also help boost the number of traders in Seberang Prai offering cashless transactions via the Boost app, which is in line with the Penang 2030 vision of turning the state into a digital state by 2030,” he said in a live broadcast on the MBSP official Facebook page today. He said the MBSP also hoped that businesses would make the most of this opportunity and register themselves as cashless digital traders. Earlier, the MoU signing by Rozali and Boost Business chief executive officer Eric Chong Tiong Beng was witnessed by Penang Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo. Meanwhile, Eric said that Digital Biz not only would expand the digital economic sector for businesses in Seberang Perai but would also help micro traders withstand the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic through micro-loan offers. “Through Digital Biz, we also offer micro-loans as low as RM1,000 to help businesses tide things over during the current challenging situation. “Digital Biz also allows businesses to promote their products under the existing e-commerce platform with fast and more efficient transactions that will be channeled directly into their business account. Feedback from customers will also be channelled faster,” he said. Those interested in registering themselves as Boost traders can visit  https://www.myboost.com.my/business or the MBSP website for more information. -- BERNAMA Bernama is the trusted source of reliable real-time comprehensive and accurate news for both the public and media practitioners.
