A company that claims to be the fastest growing provider of Bluetooth wireless connectivity, Searan , has signed a global distribution deal with Mouser Electronics to supply its royalty-free software development kits (SDKs) for developers of consumer, medical and industrial applications. The SDKs support devices from semiconductor manufacturers, including STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, Microchip Technology, Marvell Semiconductor and Renesas Electronics. The company’s Linux or FreeRTOS wireless audio player software and FreeRTOS wireless speaker software enable audio streaming and phones calls from a smartphone to a headset via the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) and the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) Bluetooth profile. Its wireless headset software can be used on the same platforms for audio streaming and phone calls from a smartphone to a headset via Hands Free Profile (HFP), A2DP, and AVRCP. The data packet software is an SDK for Linux- or FreeRTOS-based platforms to transfer data over Bluetooth Low Energy for any device, Bluetooth SPP for Android devices, and iAP for iOS devices with MFi (Made for iPhone/iPad) authentication. The SDK is built on the company’s Bluetooth stack, dotstack and is designed for low-cost, low-power embedded devices. dotstack is Bluetooth SIG-compliant and is easy to port, says the company.
