No Comments Akzo-Nobel closes the Schramm paint factory in Offenbach. A data center is to be built there – and meet the highest ecological standards. Meanwhile, a biotech company needs new staff. The Dutch company Akzo-Nobel announced in the summer of 2022 that it would close the traditional paint factory Schramm on Kettelerstrasse in Offenbach in 2024. The Offenbach magistrate has now followed up this bad news with good news: The site has not yet been sold to the international data center operator CloudHQ from the USA, but both sides have the firm intention of completing this deal. Then a new data center is to be built at this point according to modern environmental standards, as announced by Offenbach Mayor Felix Schwenke (SPD). All those involved have already laid down the new plans in a declaration of intent. The city supports the project, for which a development plan has to be drawn up, as the head of planning Paul-Gerhard Weiß (FDP) explained.
