Saucy Fish Co heads down under

Nov 18, 2019

By James Ridler Seafood brand The Saucy Fish Co has expanded its reach into the southern hemisphere with the launch of its frozen fishcake products into Australian supermarket chain Woolworths. Three variants of the product are now available in 900 stores across the country – Salmon & Cod Fishcakes with a Cracking Creamy Lemon Centre, Haddock Fishcakes with a Delicious Vintage Cheddar Centre, and Thai Spiced Fishcakes with a Fantastic Red Chilli & Coconut Centre. Sales and marketing director Amanda Webb said: “We’ve seen Saucy’s Frozen range go down a storm in the UK and we believe it will be equally welcome in Australia. Convenience   “We know people love convenient cooking and great-tasting fish, so we are very pleased that our products provide both – offering inspirational flavour with our fish-minus-the-fuss options that are perfect for midweek meals and can go from freezer to fork in 25 minutes.” The Saucy Fish Co’s decision to launch its fishcakes into international markets followed a successful UK launch of its frozen fish products in 2017. Popular in Australia Woolworths seafood category manager James Bigg added: “The Saucy Fish Co offers time-saving convenience whilst still delivering great flavours, which we know customers at Woolworths will love. We're excited to see The Saucy Fish Co products in our stores and can see all three flavours of fishcakes proving popular with our shoppers.” Saucy previously tasted international success; in 2013, it launched its brand onto the Scandinavian seafood market, followed by a listing in 800 Belgium supermarkets in 2015. The brand, along with parent company Seachill, was acquired by meat producer Hilton Food Group in August 2017. Meanwhile, Ice cream manufacturer James Rizza & Sons plans to create new jobs after scooping a new supply deal with Asda , which will see its products stocked in the supermarket’s Scottish stores.
