Real-time Analytics News for Week Ending June 18 In this week’s real-time analytics news: Snowflake’s conference proved to be a gold mine for new products and services from the company, its partners, and others. Keeping pace with news and developments in the real-time analytics market can be a daunting task. We want to help by providing a summary of some of the important news items our staff came across this week. Here is our list: Snowflake held its annual conference, Snowflake Summit 2022, last week and announced product updates with new capabilities for developers, data professionals, and analytics teams to gain insights on real-time transactional data and build products and apps faster. Items announced included: Unistore, a new Snowflake workload now in private preview, offers a single platform that brings transactional and analytical data together so businesses can leverage and manage the lifecycle of their data in a single location. Snowflake Native Application Framework, which lets developers build, monetize, and deploy applications on Snowflake Marketplace, and consumers can securely install and run those applications directly on their data inside Snowflake. Snowpark for Python (private preview), which opens up a programming environment for data scientists, data engineers, and application developers to build scalable pipelines, applications, and machine learning workflows directly in Snowflake. Snowpark for Python runs on the same infrastructure as Snowflake pipelines and applications, enabling developers to streamline and modernize their data processing. Many companies made Snowflake-related announcements at the conference. Others did not attend but also made related announcements during the week. Here is a sampling of those items: ALTR announced the release of its new policy automation engine for managing data access controls in Snowflake and beyond. The solution allows data engineers and architects to set up data access policies in minutes, manage ongoing updates to data permissions, and handle data access requests through ALTR’s own no-code platform for data policy management. ALTR employs Snowflake’s built-in Data Classification and Object Tagging to automate access policy enforcement on sensitive data types.
