American Securities to exit Robertson Fuel Systems in a $255m deal

22 Dec 2015 New York-based buyout house American Securities  is selling Robertson Fuel Systems to aerospace and electronics company Heico Corp for $255m. Kaye Scholer acted as legal advisor and Moelis & Company and SunTrust Securities acted as financial advisors to American Securities and Robertson. The transaction is expected to close within the next two months. Founded in 1977, Robertson is a maker of fuel systems for military rotocraft. The company currently employs around 125 people and has production facilities in Tempe, Arizona and Bluffdale, Utah. American Securities invested in the business in April 2006. Paul Rossetti, managing director at American Securities, said, “We are proud to have partnered for almost a decade with Col (Ret) Tom Harrison, more recently with Col (Ret) Newman Shufflebarger, and with the entire Robertson management team to build on the foundation built by Dr. Robertson and John Rawlings. “Their dedication to self-funded product development and fanatical customer service in support of our warfighters is renowned. “We are pleased to have maintained those disciplines while expanding the Company’s capabilities and market applications.” American Securities recently acquired Royal Adhesives & Sealants from fellow private equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners .
