K-beauty startups under limelight in Barcelona via Seoul’s PoC support program 2022.11.16 14:38:02 | 2022.11.16 14:40:38 Receiver [Provided by SBA] Three Korean beauty and wellness startups ? selected by Seoul Business Agency (SBA) have enjoyed the limelight at Westfield Gl?ries, a popular shopping mall in Barcelona, for their innovative solutions. SBA, a subsidiary organization of Seoul Metropolitan Government for supporting Seoul-based small and medium-sized enterprises, has been backing promising beauty startups to field-test their services for global expansion under its Proof-of-Concept (PoC) program launched last year. A total of 12 Seoul-based startups benefited from the program last year. Westfield Gl?ries is under Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, which owns and operates a total of 82 shopping centers, including 53 flagship stores, across Europe and the United States. LUMINI [Source : Lululab] During the pilot program, Lululab highlighted ‘LUMINI’, an artificial intelligence skin analysis solution, based on more than 1 million skin data obtained from people by race and country around the world. With a face photo taken in the field, LUMINI can analyze various skin conditions based on skin age, wrinkles, pigmentation, pores, redness, and sebum data and recommend optimal cosmetics according to the evaluated skin conditions. Thanks to this technology, the startup is already in talks for cooperation opportunities with local beauty and distribution brands in Spain, such as Kiehl‘s, Sephora, and Body Shop. Reziena presented ’Young & be‘ with medical technology for easy use by consumers. The brand plans to collect skin data through the sale of home care solution products and leverage the data to expand its services into an AI home doctor platform. Reziena is exploring opportunities to enter the European market with the demo project in Spain. In particular, the company’s microcurrent mask to be introduced next year represents its distinct business identity on the global market. Becon founded through Samsung Electronics’ in-house venture program went independent in November 2020 as a digital healthcare service company specializing in scalp and hair loss management. Becon launched a solution called ‘withbecon’ in August to enable an analysis of the user’s scalp and hair loss conditions within 5 seconds through a scalp scanner and AI deep learning algorithm. The solution also provides hair loss management tips through customized shampoo and essence products.
