Rescue Therapeutics (RTI) is commercializing RTI-97, a discovery by Texas A&M University researchers. When given as part of a cancer treatment regimen, RTI-79 shows the potential to increase the efficacy of chemotherapy drugs. The team has shown in vitro and in vivo that adding RTI-79 to doxorubicin materially improves doxorubicin's ability to kill ovarian and Non-Hodgkins lymphoma cancer cells - even cell lines known to be resistant to chemotherapy. The team has also shown that RTI-79 works with other chemotherapy agents such as velcade and cisplatinum. Further, the team has shown in vitro that RTI-79 works in treating drug-resistant cells from other cancer cell lines including breast, colon, pancreatic and prostate cancer.
