North American Consumer Products Inc. has acquired the closely held Regent Lighting Corporation, a leading manufacturer of home security lighting products. The company did not disclose a purchase price. North American Consumer Products, a closely held New York-based company, is backed by the Patricof & Company venture capital firm and the venture capital unit of the Chemical Banking Corporation. North American Consumer Products is headed by Michael Hoye, a former executive vice president of the Colgate-Palmolive Company. Regent, based in Burlington, N.C., had sales of about $100 million last year. It was co-founded in 1975 by Gene Rayfield, who served as chief executive and sole stockholder for the last seven years.
