Chinese Travel-Sharing Website Qyer Opens First Japan Guesthouse

Dec 10, 2018

Chinese Travel-Sharing Website Qyer Opens First Japan Guesthouse Liao Shumin Chinese Travel-Sharing Website Qyer Opens First Japan Guesthouse (Yicai Global) Dec. 10 -- Chinese travel information website Qyer has opened its first Q-Home 'minshuku,' or guesthouse, in Japan following their success in Thailand, New Zealand and other overseas destinations since 2015. Qyer, which allows travelers to exchange information and experiences, launched a Q-Home guesthouse in Osaka, Japan's second-largest city, Chinese state-backed The Paper reported. The Beijing-based company entered into a joint venture on the project with ZaiChuan, a boutique brand run by Duanzhu Network Technology. Under the deal, Qyer will provide the investment, while ZaiChuan will be responsible for running Q-Home. The website will also promote the project and offer customers services online and through its mini programs on WeChat. ZaiChuan was founded by Han Zhe, who quit as Qyer's chief operating officer in June last year. Also based in Beijing, it focuses on services related to overseas travel and lodgings. ZaiChuan owns more than 300 guesthouses in Kyoto, Osaka and other Japanese cities and districts. The era of online travel firms burning through cash to attract users is over, Qyer Chief Executive Xiao Yi told The Paper. Set up in 2004, Qyer plans to monetize its web traffic. It will form a complex eco-system where both online and offline businesses grow together, Xiao added, saying the company will probably extent its cooperation with ZaiChuan beyond the Japanese market. Q-Home was set up as an offline platform to help independent Chinese tourists after they made bookings, and to run CityWalk, an affiliated local entertainment product. Follow Yicai Global on
