Damon Evans, previously a salesperson, will manage the company’s Palm Desert, Calif., service office. TUCSON, Ariz. – Truly Nolen Pest Control announced the promotion of Damon Evans to manager of the company’s Palm Desert, Calif., service office. Evans joined Truly Nolen in February 2016 as a salesperson and has over 20 years of experience in the pest control industry. Before joining the company, he worked for Riverside County Pest Control in sales and as a termite technician. He studied entomology for one year at Texas A&M University. Some of Evans’ new responsibilities include helping the service office gain more visibility within the Palm Desert community, as well as instilling the company’s core values throughout his team. “I am most excited about being homegrown within this service office and getting to continue to work with the same team I’ve been with the last five years,” said Evans. “My favorite thing about Truly Nolen is our company’s culture, as well as the support of everyone throughout our company.”

U.S. Structural Pest Control Market Surpasses $9.6 Billion, Specialty Consultants Reports
Service revenue in the pest control market grew by 2.9%, according to the newly released report "A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest Control Industry" from Specialty Consultants. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As a result of continued consolidation and attrition, the United States structural pest control industry is now comprised of slightly more than 18,800 pest control firms. In 2020, these firms generated an estimated $9.627 billion in total service revenue, a 2.9% increase from the $9.359 billion measured in 2019, according to the latest report "A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest Control Industry from Specialty Consultants." “Achieving nearly 3% revenue growth when total U.S. GDP declined -3.5% in 2020 is remarkable and it demonstrates the resilience of the professional pest control industry and its importance as an essential service,” said Rich Kalik, partner Specialty Consultants. Residential service revenue grew by high single digits this past year. “Professional pest services to control mosquitos and ticks both grew by well more than 20% along with strong double-digit growth in services to control occasional invaders or exterior perimeter pests, as homeowners hunkered down as a defense against the COVID-19 pandemic,” added Kalik. Recurring revenue accounted for 84.7% of the residential pest control service revenue this past year. Commercial service revenue declined by low single digits. Kalik said, “the decline in commercial services revenue was not as bad as we first feared. Clearly, hospitality industries like restaurants and hotels suffered from closures and fear of travel, but that impact appears to have been offset somewhat by expanded services to grocery stores, food and beverage manufacturing, hospitals, and nursing homes.” 
The termite market segment benefited from a robust housing market delivering solid growth in the number of both pre-construction and post-construction jobs completed. This past year the number of post-construction termite treatments completed increased by high single digits. The growth in the number of termite jobs completed was complimented by a meaningful improvement in the average charge per job. The 2020 season market report is the 21st edition of "A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest Control Industry. NEWTON, N.J. — The total U.S. pest control index increased 6.3 percent year-over-year in February, according to a report released in late March by PCO M&A Specialists and William Blair . This increase marks an acceleration from January, which was up 5.1 percent year-over-year. The index declined 2.5 percent on a sequential basis, in line with normal seasonal trends (down 3.6 percent in February 2020 and 5.4 percent in February 2019). This index includes recurring and nonrecurring revenue for the residential pest, commercial pest and termite segments of the industry. It does not include residential door-to-door companies. “We believe the U.S. pest control market remains poised for another strong year of growth, as higher penetration rates in the residential market persist in 2021 and are supplemented by a rebound in commercial pest sales,” said William Blair Equity Researchers Tim Mulrooney and Sam Kusswurm. “The swing factor appears to be the termite market, which tends to be highly variable from quarter to quarter and faces difficult comparisons in 2021.”
The residential index remained strong (up 12 percent), in line with the last several months. The work-from-home environment continues to support stronger residential volumes on a year-over-year basis. Meanwhile, the commercial index accelerated in February, following a slowdown in January due to rising COVID-19 cases that prompted business closures in some areas of the country. The termite index decelerated sequentially for the second month in a row.
