Kovar August 09, 2021, 03:32 PM EDT ScanSource is looking to bring its traditional IT hardware distribution partners and its POS Portal mobile device and point-of-sales distribution partners closer together with the appointment of Tony Sorrentino (pictured) as president of its North America business. Sorrentino, a 22-year ScanSource veteran who until last week served as president of the distributor’s North American specialty segment, is stepping into the newly created role of president of all of its North American business as a way to bring the two businesses closer and build new services including Hardware as a Service, said John Eldh, chief revenue officer of the Greenville, S.C.-based company. “We’ve pulled all the hardware businesses together,” Eldh told CRN. “If you go back to 2015, we’ve been on a journey to identify end-user buying requirements. Bringing all the hardware together in North America lets us wrap more services around the hardware and deliver them to our partner ecosystem.”
