The shooting is now being investigated as a homicide, according to a spokesperson from Peel police. Mon., March 20, 2023timer1 min. read One person has been pronounced dead following a shooting near three schools in a Mississauga neighbourhood Monday night, Peel police say. The victim of the shooting succumbed to their injuries shortly following the incident, police said. Investigators are treating the shooting as a homicide, a spokesperson told the Star. Police have no other information to share in the early stages of the investigation, the spokesperson continued. Further updates will be posted to Peel police’s social media. The shooting appears to have occurred about a block away from St. Herbert Elementary School, Fallingbrook Middle School and Rick Hansen Secondary School. No other injuries have been reported at this time. There is currently a heavy police presence in the area. Residents are recommended to avoid the scene.
